2011 Rally D'Italia Sardegna Results

Rally Sardinia has been won by WRC-super hero and seven-times WRC champion, Sebastian Loeb (& Daniel Elena), in the Citroen DS3. This is Loeb's forth win on the gravel of Sardinia. Mikko Hirvonen (Abu Dhabi Ford Fiesta RS WRC) and Petter Solberg (Petter Solberg Citroen DS WRC 3) ran the flying Frenchman close on the last day, but lost out to Loeb's ultimate pace and extensive experience, despite Loeb complaining at having to run first as "sweeper" on most days. Sebastian Ogier came in forth in his Citroen DS3, with Mads Ostberg continuing his good WRC season in fifth in his Ford Fiesta RS WRC. And the MINI John Cooper Works WRC, built and run by Prodrive, made a storming debut, with Daniel Sordo (pictured) coming in sixth. Loeb now leads the championship by seven points over Hirvonen. Turning out to be an exciting first season for the new 1.6-litre WRC cars eh?
